Well for a few weeks now i have been experiencing, shortness of breath just at random times, well tonight i lay down and try to fall asleep and i notice my heart is beating really fast, and then it starts getting really hard for me to breathe, so i jumped out of bed, and took my pulse, and i thought i was having heart palpitation's, my heart would beat fast then i felt it flutter and skip a beat then start again, and then after about 5 mins it was getting slower, then it got really weak, i am not really sure whats going on, i dont want to scare my family, because my mother passed away a few weeks ago from a asthma attack, is this something that is a emergency? I looked at a few sites, and i could have inherited some things from my mother she had Congestive heart failure and thyroids dieases, i dont get alot of exercise and am kinda scared it could be heart failure, but i only have the palpations as a symptom for that can someone please help me here i am so freaked out

How old are you? Age does matter.I think your symptoms should absolutely be checked by a health care provider, but I think you are experiencing anxiety. The more that you think about it and concern yourself with worries and concerns about your heart, the more likely you will be to notice "palpatations." My advice to you would be to find a way to really relax and clear your mind. It is not going to help you by having this worry on your mind all the time. Going to the doctor will help ease your mind if there is nothing wrong, but I will warn you that you should try to be as relaxed as possible when visiting to the doctor, as anxiety leads to palpatations and increased heart beats...this may be enough to scare a doctor into sending you to the ER for further testing. Just try to relax!I just recently went through similar symptoms, including a 24 hour stay in the hospital that turned out to be unnecesary as we pinned my symptoms on anxiety. Reading internet forums and trying to self diagnose yourself will only cause worsening of symptoms.

Heart problem is common nowadays due to our changing life styles. The blood vessels that takes blood to the heart itself gets blocked or choked due to cholestrol. This is called coronary artery disease and happens slowly over time, so it can lead to heart attack. But to prevent this we should take steps early as the doctor says by controlling blood pressure, Lowering cholesterol, quiting smoke and go for routine exercise or walk. Just go for proper diet intake as the saying says that prevention is better than cure.
