If you want to fence all four sides,If you are thinking of the number of fence poles then 34, But the actual length of fencing will be 36You get 34 fence poles since,Square root of 81 is 9so you'll need 9 on two of the sides and 8 on the other two sides

If the garden is square, you can determine that each side is 9 ft long. There are four sides to a square.9ft*4 = 36ft

since area is L times W. and a square has the same length on each side. just take the square root of the areasquare root of 81 each side is 9 ft multiply 9 by 4 (number of sides)answer. 36

I have two answers to this question:a) None, the garden has an open plan therefore doesn't need a fenceb) If the garden was to have a fence then I would at least allow a 3 feet opening on one of the sides to allow entry to the garden for maintence therefore not 36ft of fencing but only 33ft.
