Paradoxically, this actually REDUCES your chance of dying from colon cancer! Polyps are no big deal, but can be a precursor to cancer, your doctor will probably recommend periodioc sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy, so in the event you do develop a tumor, it will be found and removed when tiny, before it can hurt you. Since most people don't get these checks, they often don't find out they have a tumor until it has spread and is causing symptoms elsewhere outside the colon, by which time it is often too late to treat with a high rate of success.Best wishes!

You just need to keep a check on yourself and have the polyps removed. Cancer comes from rectal polyps but as long as you stay on top of things and have them removed early you have nothing to worry about. You will probably need to have a colonoscopy once a year for a while then if you are clear of polyps you may get to go to once every 3-5 years, depending on what your doctor advises. Colon cancer is about 90% preventable if people would just get checked and have the polyps removed before they become cancerous. Good luck and you should be fine. Just get those checkups!
