Woman have the right to choose what to do with their bodies by killing a separate life that is growing inside of them. Why is this acceptable, but someone else choosing to kill their very own self is not?I should add I believe both suicide and abortion are very sad tragedies which should not be taken lightly.

Because the law is a joke? And on a sidenote, your avatar makes you seem really hot, but then I remember, they're never as hot as the avatar. If you are, then I give you props you cute devil you.

they shouldn't be taken lightly. I don't think that abortion should be legal and i don't think it makes sense that it's legal to choose to end a life other then your own but it isn't legal to end your own life. Neither should be legal but suicide with abortion are two very different thingsi meant suicide and abortion are two very different things

theres no way suicide can be legal, I mean your already dead, and it is shity of a person to have an abortion, inless it would harm the person by having the baby or maybe if they were rapped other then that hey are both bad, and people do look down on both .

once you commit suicide, it's hard to face the consequences. personally, i believe you have a right to control your own body. but, personal freedoms are slowly being eroded in our land. oh well.

Because it is easier to clean up after an abortion than a suicide.

Laws are for the living. We kill things growing inside of us everyday - bacteria, viruses and jut plain groups of cells that are past their "sell by date" :)We don't apply laws to them for the same reason we don't apply laws to a group of cells that is a fetus. Whatever it is, it is most certainly not at the stage of life where it is functioning member of society, breathing on its own and everything else that goes with being a human being. Now, you might say the difference between a fetus and a bacteria or an unneeded tonsil is that one has the potential to enter the life stage where you and I are at right now, and that would be correct. But the law correctly recognizes that "potential to become"is not the same as "being". The law also recognizes that this action (abortion) is not for everyone, and therefor if people don't want to have one, be it for religious or any other reason at all, they don't have to have one.I think you will also find that committing suicide is not a crime. If you succeed, then the case would be moot. if you don't succeed, then there may be a basis for a civil but not criminal stay for mental health evaluations. No one is sitting in jail for attempting but failing suicide.Just as a matter of rhetoric, I think it will help you understand the real answer to your important question if you can drop the comparison to suicide or any other matter. The reason for abortion being legal stands on its own. There are other way for me to present it as well, but you brought it up this way so I answered you this way.If you feel sad for the "potential beings", then say a prayer or do whatever gives you solace. That would be appropriate behavior.Forcing your opinions, which are rooted in your religious beliefs, on others, is the most un-American thing you can possibly do. So you will have to find a way to make peace internally with the reality of the situation in this country. I wish you luck!
