If you go to your vet, they have a special kind of dry cat food that will help. That is what they gave me afew months ago for my cat. I can't remember the name, but you can call your vet and they should be able to tell you.

Go to a store like Petco, they have all different kinds of pet food. Some of the popular pet food makers make a type for cats that is good for the urinary tract. Dry food is the best for this,it also will help prevent gum disease and keep the teeth clean of tartar. It is very expensive to have a cat's teeth cleaned.

It depends on the cause of the urinary tract problems. Cats can sometimes have a condition called Feline urinary tract disorder. Some recommend that a cat is fed more can food so increase its water intake. They also do have many cat foods out there labeled for urinary tract care that you can by. I know purina pro plan is one name. If your cat has crystals in the urine then the type of food your cat should eat depends on the type of crystals

Okay, speaking from a pricey stint at this problem. Forego petsmart or petco, feed ONLY the food your vet suggests. And with the cat being male, please do yourself a favor and read up on what it means when a bunch of those crystals "block" his urethra (think log jam). Bottom line, he can die in anywhere from 24-72 hours. ~~see link below~~My 3 yr old male cat is living proof of it. Thankfully he was smart enough to announce the problem in such a way, that I knew something was very wrong, and rushed him to the hospital. Other cats I've heard of simply go and hide, thus it isn't caught in time.P.S. stay away from dry food. Give only canned stuff. Cats are not the biggest water drinkers, but in this case they NEED more water to flush out the crystals
