Laryngitis is inflammation of the larynx (voice box), and causes you to sound hoarse or lose your voice, so this doesn't sound like laryngitis. Brochitis is inflammation of the bronchi (breathing tubes). It often follows a viral infection - cold or flu. The symptoms are cough, and shortness of breath, sometimes wheezing. You may need antibiotics, so you should see your doctor. Get well soon!

Most likely its bronchitis, if your coughing up yellow or white mucus, and have pains in your back, and chest. Although, I have slight asthma, and I do know that somtimes it gets misdiagnosed, or mistaken for other illnesses. It especially flairs up when you have a cold, such as the one I currently have, and wish like h#ll would go away. If it only happens at night, or when your stressed; its probably asthma.

Maybe you have an allergy for something new around you.I myself have been coughing for months because I had bought a cheap fleece sweater that I wore very often. I couldn't stand the fleece and since I don't wear fleece anymore, my cough has gone, allthough it took some time.Try to discover if something in your environment has changed, that might cause allergy by breathing in microscopic small particles.I have also had a polyp in my bronchia . When I catched a cold, I always had very bad coughs especially when I went sleeping. They found it after I had pneumonia and they had taken x-rays of my lungs. The polyp was removed by surgery.Maybe you should ask your m.d. for a more extensive examination. It might be something serious. There must be a cause for this cough, 3 months is too long. A normal cold takes 3 weeks.
