alcohol? Recently (within the past month) I've been having moderate to severe lower back pain and chest pain after consuming any amount of alcohol. I have never previously had any problems. What could be causing this?Yes, I know the obvious solution is to "stop drinking", but I'm just curious as to what could be causing it exactly.

as you said, "Recently (within the past month) I've been having moderate to severe lower back pain and chest pain after consuming any amount of alcohol." stop consuming any products with alcohol and go see a doctor.Pain indicates that there is something in your body that is destroyed or beginning to be destroyed. am not scaring you, but early detection is better than when it's too late.

I dont know how your alchohol drinking history has been or other medical conditions that you may be having but its likely that you may have pancreatitis- inflammation of your pancreas caused by alchohol. There may also be co-existing acid reflux (GERD) especially if you have been drinking for a long time and this may cause pain in the chest too.The only way to be sure is visit your doctor who will take a thorough history from you and order the neccessary tests and give proper medical care. Not knowing how old you are, complaints of chest pain may lead to evaluation of your heart as well to r/o cardiac disease.
