In the last month iv'e been diagnosed type 2 diabetes and Angina. What i need to know is when i'm told only eat food with less than 9mg sugar. Do they mean .9 or 9.0 and the same with fats. I'm totally confused because i'm told EVERTHING has sugar or fats even spuds?. Can i eat Bathelors Noodles, Boiled Ham on toast, can i drink hot Oxo.. Where can i find this information ?. Most importantly, how many pints of lager/bitter am i allowed if i only drink on Fri/Sat nights. My Fri/Sat's normally consists of about 18 pints but i don't drink anything during the week. No fascist kill joys please, i know i'm eventually going to joss it so i still want to have some enjoyment. I'm 54 (just).

My brother, you are going to have to make drastic lifestyle change. I am going to provide you with a link because your question cannot be answered here. The reason being is, the answer is not simple and would not even fit here. You need to do some extensive research because you are going to have to make a lot of changes. You need to schedule an appointment with a registered dietician. Do not even begin to take advice on what to eat or not eat from here. Go to the pro. You also need to see a cardiologist. He will provide you with daily activity regimens, exercise agendas, the dietician consult. You have a lot of learning to do, and you will not learn it here. You are going to have to eliminate the lager/bitter for the most part because of the diabetes.I am not trying to be a killjoy just trying to present you with the facts. You have serious health problems.Actually I am not being dramatic, I have been a registered nurse in acute care for 14+ years. Angina and Diabetes are a lethal combination. I spent 6 years working a cardiac cath lab. I have seen what diabetes and coronary artery disease can do to your heart and arteries. Btw, Angina is not what kills you, it is the occlusion causing the angina. Angina alone by itself is indicative of serious coronary artery disease. Like I said don't take advice here from lay people.

hello.i am dr nadeem and i am expert in vasular physiology.as far as you r concerned the both entities angina and diabetes one way or another going to effect your circulation...angina with coronary circulation and diabetes the circulation of whole body.diabetes can cause and worsen angina itself..take deep breaths and slow down..theres no need to panic...fowlloing r the few tips.ANGINA1start walking .slow walikng oimproves circulation2avoid choestrol.thats milk and milk products.and meat.mainly red meat.u can take fish and chicken in moderate.qualtities.3 avoid junk food.fresh home made vegetable and beans are the best.4 minimize your liqour intake. a peg every third day.or 2 pegs at weekend maximum5avoid bakery..it has high cholestrol and high in saturated fats.try to use unsaturated fats..like olive oil or canola oil.remember only canola or olive oil. no to butter.say NO to butter.animal fats sh be totally eliminted from the diet.6.low satlt diet is better.tinned food high salt recipes should be avoided .they can elevate your blood pressure worseing angina.DIABETES.1.eleminate sugar from the diet.this sound ridiculous but if you look deeper you have many alternatives,u can add canderal or artificial sweetners with the recommendations of the doctor.2 there no reason to avoid potato and othe r natural occuring carbohydrates from the diet like rich or potatos or peas.3cakes pasteries and bakery should be avoided.i hope this comes as shock to you but belive me u will turn to fresher lean meat and vegetables and beas with sizzilng barbeques and natural ly occuring recipes which will enrich your life with energy and healthy outlook.

Angina means your heart muscle isn't getting enough blood because your blood vessels are clogged and/or damaged in some way. Diabetes can lead to heart disease because high blood sugar damages blood vessels in your body, including the ones on your heart. When your heart muscle isn't getting enough blood, then you get pain and other symptoms. That's why you must take your meds just as the doctor ordered. Very important. As you probably know already, drinking alcohol makes angina and diabetes worse, plus it causes even more damage to your blood vessels. Drinking lots of alcohol is going to make your life less enjoyable because it will cause more episodes of angina and/or make your angina feel more intense. Your diabetic diet consists of starches, meats, fats, veggies, and fruits. You are only allowed so many of each. This link has exchange tables and the exchange tables tell you how much is in a starch, meat, fruit, veggie, and fat:http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/diabetes-diet/DA00077Here is an example of a diabetic diet, but you'll want to ask your doc if it's okay for you: BREAKFAST Food Groups 2 starches1 fruit1 milk1 fatLUNCH Food Groups 2 ounces meat or protein2 breads or starches 1 vegetable 1 fatAFTERNOON SNACK Food Groups 1 milk 1 vegetable1 fatDINNER Food Groups 3 ounces meat or protein 2 starches1 fat 2 vegetable 1 fruitEVENING SNACK Food Groups 1 starch1 meat or meat substituteAn example of you 9.0 gram rule:A single serving of crackers may have 6.0 grams of sugar in it. You would want to eat the number of crackers listed as one serving. The box will list it for you. That one serving of crackers counts as one of your "starches."You wouldn't want to eat crackers that have more than 9 grams of sugar per serving.
