It's going on 9 months that i have been really depressed. I don't really talk to anyone about it, and I'm hoping it might just go away over time or something?.....

It won't go away unless you talk with someone. Depression can turn into something much worse. So my advice to you is to talk to someone.

No, depression does not just go away by itself. You must identify the cause of you depression and then treat both the symptoms and the cause of your depression. Depression can have a biochemical cause or it can be caused by stress and trauma you have experienced. Only a qualified professional can discover the cause.Typical treatment for depression may included talk therapy, medication and/or lifestyle changes. I have lived with depression for over 25 years, been on meds and am currently medication-free.To manage my depression, I get regular exercise (this helps more than anything else!), I avoid alcohol and excessive sugar and white flour, I get full spectrum light EVERY day...either sunshine or a special lamp... and I practice gratitude to maintain a positive outlook. It also helps me to keep a routine...get up and go to bed about the same time every day.You can start treating your depression immediately by taking a walk and watching what you eat. I encourage you to see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis.

No, it won't. Please get help. Even if it goes away, without some kind of help it will probably come back.

Mine does, but then it comes back a few weeks or months later. Yay for spontaneous mood swings! You can try to get help, but it could just make things worse. It did for me. You know those stereotypes about psychiatrists? They're true and CBT is just a load of crap, but statistically very good.

Maybe, but since it has been 9 months probably not.

You need to talk to somebody who can be morally supportive and at the same time aware of your problems, a counsellor or something alike, for very minimal cases of depression - time is a healer, but it depends how badly your affected. I'll never get away from depression, but I can still find joy and have great times, I also help other people with the same and worse problems. I wouldn't say Anti Depressants are the answer either. Find yourself some help from a doctor/counsellor, wherever you are in the world. If you need any further help and your based in the UK, feel free to drop me a message.
