...talks about living with Depression.? I need to find a good web site that deals with living with depression, particularly male depression. I know men do not like to talk about their depression but someone must have seen or heard of a good site that gives me an insight as to what it is like for a man to live with depression and what can be done to push through the darkness. What self energising and rewarding things can be done to put value back into life after a man has developed depression, not just being depressed but actually encountering the true illness of depression and the effects of anxiety and panic and impotence. How do we fight back to regain a valuable life?

Theres about a zillion websites you can find. But may I suggest looking up Dr. Barry Duncan, he has many different articles and books on mental illness. One in particular that has helped with my depression is a book called "what's right with me" comes at the problems from a totally unique point of view.It has helped me tremendously.Check Dr. Duncan out hope it helps.God bless.

Did you know that depression is like the common cold when it comes to metal illness? It's becoming more and more common. Get yourself a competent psychiatrist. Two books I can highly recommend are: Bournes' Anxiety and Depression Workbook, and Burns' The Feeling Good Handbook. They are both well-respected bibles on the subject. Go to Amazon.com and read the book reviews. There are also autobiographical books on individuals and their struggles with the disorder. William Styron's Darkness Visible is excellent. I have been struggling with this illness for 40+years. Finally the prognosis looks good! Scientists are discovering that the brain is plastic so things are not set in stone. It's a matter of forming new neural connections. Avoiding the old ones. The Central Nervous System is geared to finding instinctively what it already knows. Problem is the reality is not cause for panic. I am now learning it's my responsibility to not become depressed just like I take measures not to get a cold. It's really that simple! So I re frame negative thoughts. I don't put myself in situations that will trigger off a downward spiral. When people become brain damaged their brains need to find a different route to take to function. And they do!! New neural pathways can be formed. If you choose to make new ones. It's really that simple...
