My grandmother & my mom use to have food get stuck in their throats. They'd cough and throw it up. It was something normal to see esp if they ate a roll or bread. For awhile I've had the same problem at times. Food would seem to get stuck in my throat. I'd feel like I have a lump or a plug in my throat. I'd gag and sometimes throw it up. Tonight was the worst time though. After eating a "Twizzler" It seems like it got stuck in my throat. I'd cough and gag a little bit. I'd burp stuff. Then I'd drink water hoping it would go down. It was like it stacked it self up my throat! I threw up the water. I went through this for almost 30-40mins. It was like I felt it going down, I'd drink a tiny bit of water and then it was like it would come right back up. At times it seemed I threw up foam, clear. But was that just the water? There was some red but I did eat a twizzler and was drinking a cherry slush. I still feel the lump. I'm scared to even eat something. I can swollow water now. What kind of dr would I see for this? I have an Ear, Nose & Throat dr I see for my allergies and sinus problems. Would he help with this too?I don't have the acid burning in my stomach, if I get heart burn it's maybe every 2-3 weeks or so. I'm 32. I possibly have IBS which I have heard can be linked with IBS.

This condition is NOT acid reflux.

It sounds like you have a transport dysphasia (literally trouble swallowing). There are a lot of things that can cause this, but if you're having heart burn symptoms as well, there may be a problem with your lower esophageal sphincter. Your ENT would be a good person to go to for an evaluation. It's probably benign and a minor procedure to get it taken care of.
