Topamax for weight loss and migraines?

They wiped out my last question......but sometimes for those who cant get phentermine, this is a much faster alternative...I take it for seizures and migraines...but noticed it kept me from eating full meals...my DR said they also used it for weight control for some people!Really!!??? I guess it affects different people in different ways. :) That is very interesting, I have never had a weight problem , except to be SMALL....so Im the other spectrum, Ive often used WEIGHT GAIN products, but I have never heard anyone say that before about Topomax. Thanx for that input. and it dont affect my taste at all. Been on 500 mg daily for 6 years......controls my seizures when NOTHING else did, so its my life saver!

I have tried topamax and had too many side affects from it.I have migraines and he prescribed maxalt for me.Good Luck with the medicine!

I was prescribed Topomax for migraines and knew from the drug info that it sometimes caused weight loss which would have been fine with me.However I didn't notice any changes in appetite until 3 months later when I completely lost my sense of taste! It was horrible! I literally could not stand to eat. The doctor took me off of it and my ability to taste came back gradually over the next month. I was miserable and don't want to use this method to lose weight ever again.
