Toothache after a filling?

I know this is fairly common, but my tooth only started hurting 3 days after it was filled. It is fine until I bite down to eat--It does not seem to make a difference if I am eating hot or cold food. It will then ache for awhile after I am done eating, so I have been taking Advil. When should I call my dentist? It has been a week since it was filled and 4 days since it began aching.

Call immediately. The problem could be as simple as a bite adjustment, or as complicated as a deep fracture which would require additional work such as a crown. Worst case scenario would add a root canal to that.

Get an appointment asap, the thing with tooth ache is it only gets worse and wont go away.

yeah you should call your dentist. when i got my fillings, it didnt bother me at all. i guess it was because my fillings were small but call your dentist. hope you feel better !
