I've been getting acid reflux really bad with this pregnancy (#2). It's to the point that I've had to sleep with several pillows under my head to keep my head elevated. I've tried rolaids and maalox max, but they only help temporarily. I've tried drinking milk before bed. I've tried watching my diet, but even plain rice gives me heartburn! No matter what I do, as soon as I lay down, it starts up again. It's interfering with my sleep, and the other night I woke up choking on something that tasted like bile, and burned like heartburn. It really scared me. Any opinions or tips on how to make this any better? Thanks!

Mylanta is fairly good... I use to get Acid reflux (still do) Tomatoe or anything based with that can cause it as well... Depending on your eating habbits as well.. Try not to eat quiet a few hours before bed.. Milk doesnt really help (been there done that before as well) There is also gaviscon ... But depending on where your from, you might not have these .. If it still happens.. see a doctor they might prescibe you with something else...

milk always worked for me, but only if i drank more than 1 cup, then went straight to bed.good luck! I hated heartburn.oh, yes, and it also only worked if i had eaten no less than 3 hours before bed.

try heart burn tablets like rennies or gaviscon(both preg friendly). i took 2 rennies with a glass of milk before bed x x (just check to see whether pregnancy friendly)

I had it very bad when I was pregnant w/my son. Nothing worked 100% for me, Tums helped (great for extra calcium) as did Saltine crackers (had them nearby for my morning sickness, anyways). I, too, stayed away from the tomato-based foods as much as possible. If I did have them, I did it in moderation and kept it away from dinnertime. Good luck, it'll all be over before you know it!

You may find it helpful to cut back on spicy and sour food items as well as coffee and other caffeinated drinks. Cutting back on carbonated drinks and milk also helps.
