My Yorkie has congestive heart failure. She has been coughing more than usual, but her cadiologist cannot see her until after Thanksgiving. Does anyone have any tips to decrease her cough?I know it is not excess fluid in her lungs, because our regular vet has checked her for that. She is on Lasix and we have increased it, but it hasn't helped. She is not coughing because of excess fluid. She is also on Pimobendan.

Diuretic pills, but they have to be prescribed. Good luck, we lost our Lab this summer from congestive heart failure.

When my pup had an upper respitory infection she had very little fluid in her lungs but she coughed and rectched for weeks!!! The vet suggested placing her in the bathroom with the door shut with hot water running so the steam could help sooth her cough, or I've heard of humidfiers helping. Not sure if this will help but good luck!

My Yorkie has congestive heart failure too. He is on Pimobendan as well. We had his lungs checked on Friday and they were completely clear but I noticed him coughing today too. I don't know why. I don't really have an answer, but I have a sick Yorkie too, so I feel your frustration. My guy is 12. How old is yours?
