to wait to get pregnnt again to ensure the prgnncy will b healthy?

when i had my miscarriage, I had a d/c, ensuring everything was cleared out. My doctor then told me to use two methods of birth control if i DIDNT want to get pregnant the next month. He siad if i wanted to, I should just wait till after my next normal menstrual cycle, usually a month to six weeks after a d/c
