Start out with a cream eyeshadow base if you want to see a bright color... maybe a soft brown, Clinique Touch Base works well, they have a shimmery brown... then you layer a powder shadow over it.

Applying eyeshadow to any shade of skin can be tricky. As a rule of thumb, the saying, "Less is more" is something to keep in mind. Stay away from shades much darker or much lighter than your skin tone, and enhance your natural beauty, flow with it, not against it. Most cosmetic counters in the Mall have people who will show you how to apply makeup for free, although they are also trying to make a sale. Go when the cosmetic counter is not crowded, and tell the cosmetician that you would like to have your eyes "made up"; most are happy to do so, and you are not obligated to buy anything if you don't wish to. It is nice to have a professional show you how it is done if you are new to it. I don't know if they are still around, but I remember a cosmetic line, Flori Roberts, exclusively for ethnic skin tones, that had some fabulous products. Keep your makeup application as natural and minimal as possible, and remember, "Love the skin you're in" and take care of it so you don't have a lot of problems with it when you are older.

I agree with Tiffmoney. it is good to start with a beige or light brown. Then you could put a regular color eyeshadow or, you can keep the brown and still look great!!

You apply it like anyone else would, just using shades that compliment your skin tone, i.e. - don't go for hot pinks, etc. I coordinate shadow w/ outfits, but never anything outrageous. Make sure that it is well blended and never loud. Look up techniques in books or online for tips on how, or look up a Mary Kay consultant, cuz that's where I get all my stuff from

First tell us what is your skin colour, then I will say which color would match you correctly, If you are completely Black then I think you have to withdraw this idea !
