seeing teens pregnant or with babies? Don't get me wrong, I was 19 years old when I got pregnant with my first, but I went to the store the other night and saw at least 3 girls who didn't look any older than 16 (if that) and were either 9 months pregnant or had a child. I overheard one talking to her friend about homework so I know this girl was under 18 and she looked to be due any day. I think it is ridiculous the amount of girls I am seeing with kids or pregnant. And I never see a guy with them either. Does anyone else agree with me? I mean it scares me to think of the generation thats going to be the future of people around my age and older. I just do not feel girls this young need to revolve there life around sex and need to focus on school. I guess its the parents though - what do you think?ELAEBLUE- I didnt say it was okay for me. I was young and wished I wouldnt have gotten pregnant, but dont regret my daughter one bit. I am not being hypocritical. I WASNT IN HIGH SCHOOL. I HAD BEEN OUT OF SCHOOL FOR 2 YEARS AND DINT LIVE WITH MY PARENTS. Read the question right and quit getting so excited. You are probably a pregnant 16 year old trying to take your anger out on someone. I'll see you on Maury honey. And by the way, you can tell a mature woman from a little girl. She was a little girl.Let me add somethings from all the great answers I have gotten:I understand the dirty looks. I don't give these girls dirty looks and I am not speaking about all pregnant teens. I understand more than most people the dirty looks to be had. I have a small tattoo on my wrist and a mexican husband and those things alone get me death looks. I got dirty looks when I was pregnant the first time, but honestly I get dirty looks all the time so I don't notice close minded people. Like Hannah M said, she was on birth control and got pregnant and thats great you were at least trying not to get pregnant. And I know everyones situations are different. I don't agree with Jenn n saying "mooching off the government" for having WIC though, I get WIC because formula is HIGH - we buy everything else ourselves. I do know that I hate seeing a woman with her nails done, makeup on, nice hair etc. and their kid(s) are disgustingly dirty. Me and my husband buy everything we need for the girls and if there isextra we might do something for ourselves. He has to get his hair cut every 2 weeks because we are in the Army. Other than that all our money is bills and our 2 girls. And Megan B - you are 18 so legally considered an adult and seems you and your husband have it together - good for you! You are in the Army too and know how it is. At least you are married to the father and not like the girls that I am referring to that are getting pregnant by whichever guy is "hot" at school.

im sick of them that makes them look like whores
I'm a teacher and it breaks my heart to see young ladies get pregnant. I wish them the best, they have a tuff road ahead. Some have more than one kid before they are 18 and babies daddies(PLURAL) not a good thing.

I think it's a sin that woman are still raising their daughters to be baby factories, and mens property. This '50s crap destroys lives, and deprives the society of productive woman.T he schools need to get on board and let the little girls learn that their fulfillment in life comes from themselves, not a second or third person.

I agree with you its almost like babies have become a fashion accesorie I too was 19 when I had my first daughter and it was so taboo then now it seems like its everywhere you look...It scares me for my own daughters I hope we will teach them the right things and how to not be influenced by others .... What else can we do as parents to discourage this type of behaviour?? I know I sound hypocritical but now when I look back I know my mistakes although I wouldnt trade my daughter for the world!!!

It makes me sad to think that I could have been a pregnant teen myself too but my Mother put me on bc pills. I was so stupid to have unprotected sex when I was younger, I was so dumb and careless. I have a kid now with the guy I was with in high school and we waited till we were married and then even after that one year and then started, everything was planned. Why couldn't we understand how much better this was to plan when we were younger? Sheesh hormones. But on a serious side. Yes it's scary to think how many out of wedlock babies there are, they come from broken homes and turmoil. I hope something seriously changes or this next generation is going to be totally screwed. There is too much focus on sex and not enough on good morals, character and responsible decision making. So I have vowed to be a good parent for my son and be as much in his life as possible to help him make good responsible decisions for his future.

there have always been young mothers! its not this generation or the next. all you can do is bring up your own children the best you can and hope that they won't end up with kids before they're ready

Yes I'm sick of seeing younger girls with babies but then again I'm also sick of looking at 40 year olds having children too. I just don't like how they have the nerve to go on welfare, wic when they should have thought about it before hand. They cant afford to pay $100 a month on formula, or $40 a month on diapers but then they get there nails done professionally. I'm also a young mother but I take full financial responsibility without mooching off the government.

I agree that it;s all in how they're raised. With no morals or self esteem, girls flock for attention and eventually sex. Without someone telling them sex equals STD's and babies, whammo....kids.It's in almost all cases the parents doing how their kids come out. I sure as hell my daughter is older will have a firm understanding of our expectations of her and make sure we do our best to educate her.

It's not just the parents. It's society as a whole. Kids these days are bombarded by the media with sex, drugs and violence because that is where the BIG profits are to be found. Censorship really does not work fully and yes, parents need to take responsibility in that area. However, the volume is so huge and young people today are very adept at outsmarting the older counterparts. Families over the last 40 years have been isolated from one another due to the fact that economics warranted that both parents were needed to work outside of the home to make ends meet. The Family institution was ultimately stressed and in many cases broken apart because of this very circumstance. Yes, it does start with the parents. But it also follows through to the schools, and the communites as a whole. It takes a whole village to raise a child.

well,in a country with a 75% divorce rate where men are looked at primarily as a sperm donor and a child support check I guess that is the way our country has gone .....my wife and I just had our first baby 4 mths ago after a 10 year marriage and we will be 50 when he turns 18, so I wish I had children when I was a teen like most of the people I grew up with ... now my son will grow up with parents the age of his friends grandparents . and that kind of bums me a little ... but with us being older and stuggling to provide him with what we never had we should be able to guide him into a successful life as an afdult .... I hope .....

IT DRIVES ME NUTS! I'm by not an older mom, I'm only 22, and I have a 5 1/2 month old child. I waited until I was married and through with school to have a child though. I think that it is the way they are being raised. Look at some of the clothes that mothers are putting their 12 yr olds in! It really upsets me because I love my child, but I couldnt imagine having him at such a young age. I mean right under your post is a 14 yr old claiming she pregnant! Good god, if I have a daughter Im buying a chasity belt!

I had my son at 19 too, I'm 22 now, and people still give me dirty looks (mostly older woman) I've been told by dozens of people that I look 16. It kinda hurts my feelings (not to look so young, but the dirty looks that are directed at me.) because I know I'm a good mother and my husband is such a great dad too. I'm sure for many teens it's hard, but giving them a dirty look isn't going to make them not pregnant, I think it's better to just wish them and their child a great future.I understand what you mean, but I don't agree. My husband wasn't with me every time I went to the store, but it doesn't mean I was a single pregnant teen.

ya know i am a pregnant teen. i am sick of seeing teen mommys. i cant beleive i am a teen mommy, im upset that i put myself in a situation where i have become a statistic. i was on birthcontrol though, and i had some teeth removed and they gave me antibiotics, the antibiotics reacted with my birthcontrol, now im pregnant. your right though, i hate seeing teen moms. especially if they look trashy, unkept. you can usually tell they cant take care of their babies.
