kitchen? Fish Tuberculosis? Can people get it? I have a few in a small tank on the corner of my counter with the usual set up, filter...10 gal. tank, heater, air tubing...I mainly have it there because I keep my nieces and nephews a lot and I don't want them overturning the tank and pestering the fish. Anyway, I have had no issues and the fish (1 male and two ladies) have been happy and healthy with me for years. I just learned about some thing called fish TB or mycobacteria, and now I am panicking. I've cleaned their tank countless times when I have had little nicks and scrapes on my hand. Man, I'm scared. From what I have read, it seems pretty hard even for fish to transmit to one another, but does anyone know if it is easy for humans to get, aside from immune compromised individuals? What about normal healthy people with no health issues, does a betta tank on the kitchen divide pose a risk to anyone's general health and safety due to this bacteria?
