Recently i've been getting sharp chest pains that only last a few seconds. Either when i'm at the computer, or i'm sitting down randomly at school. And then I breath in and then out. What should I do about this? and I'm only sixteen

Are you stressed? Does anybody else in your family get them? My mother gets sharp, shooting chest pains over her sternum when she's freaking out over something, and I've started getting the same problem. Stress-related. Whether or not yours is, I couldn't say.

I will tell you this from my personal experience. You're probably fine. Most heart conditions do not even cause heart pain. It's most likely stress or possibly diet. A sharp pain in your chest is more likely to be a muscle contraction or an anxiety attack than a heart attack. Most people look at heart attacks as someone suddenly gripping their heart and collapsing. Having seen my mother have 4 in person, I can assure you it's nothing like that. Many times the first symptoms are hours away, and start as dull aches in the left shoulder, neck, and jaw, and eventually heart palpitations and irregular heartbeat, most of which is rarely painful.Don't sweat it. If you feel a sharp pain in your chest sitting down or randomly, do this: relax. Sit back, take a deep breath and it will pass quickly and soon you will find they don't come back. However, should the pain continue, by all means, ask your parents to take you to a doctor. No one's advice over Yahoo Answers should ever take the place of a doctor's diagnosis.Good luck!

does it feel like a sharp pain followed by a bubble bursting on the left side of your chest? if so, it could be precordial catch syndrome.I myself was having pains in my chest and was worried it could be something serious, but it was only pcs.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome
