Alternative or not I need to know. It seems as if there is a diet to treat the symptoms and a totally different and even stricter diet for a cure.I'm on asechol but it only seems to be treating the symptoms. Is there a cure?

I battled UC for over 5 years, using many meds, like asacol. Prednezone is the only one that worked for a while. However there is a limit of use to it. It is hard on your body too. A month ago, I finally had surgery(total large intestine removal). Not an easy choice. But it is the only sure way to never have UC again. The small intestine is made into a (J-pouch) and in about 3 months you are reconnected and UC free. No more blood!!! It is not as tough as I had worried about. I have a bag for until the final surgery connection. It is not such a terrible thing to have one of the bags and just knowing that in a few weeks UC will be history, makes it all worth it. This is my suggestion for anyone wanting to be rid of UC. I have some Drs. and a hospital that I will recommend if asked. God bless you as you fight the UC in your life. Jim.
