Question about a type of birth control?

Hi all, i overheard a woman while at lunch yesterday talking about birth control with her friend. She said that the doctors planted a "coil" inside of her ovaries to stop her from getting pregnant for 7 to ten years. I was to shy to ask a total stanger about this, which i regret because i have been trying to find info today and nothing...has anyone ever heard of this before?Thanks!
