My doctor just called me and told me I have irregular cells which is a possibilty for cancer, does anyone know anything about it? I'm a little scared, I went on google and they had some information but not a lot, has anyone here gone through it or know anything?

The WebMd might be able to help you. You could google a support group, and they may be able to help you there. There's an official website "for" cervical cancer, just google that, too....GOOD LUCK!!! xD

First of all, I know it's scary. But please don't jump to conclusions. My Mom went through this before. Abnormal cells do not necessarily mean cancer. HOWEVER...she was very anxious like you, and only considered the worst possible outcomes. I know it's easier said than done, but try to relax and think positive. How soon did they ask you to come back? I was so upset that she was so upset, I called and demanded they take her in within 48 hours and not make her wait the week out they had previously scheduled her for. Ended up being, she had a benign cyst. They lasered it and she was fine. Not sure when your follow up is, but if it's days off, call and insist they get you in early, even if it means going to another doctor. I don't think it's fair for them to call you with news they know is going to make you anxious and then make you wait. Most offices will take you early, I hear, if you are pursistant. Good luck and hope this helps.

I agree, demand to see a doctor ASAP! Also, if this does turn out to be nothing serius, get the HPV vaccine!!!! I cannot stress strongly enough how important it is for every woman to get this shot! It's a three-shot vaccine given over a period of six months, and it helps prevent HPV, which is the #1 growing STD today. HPV is especially harmful because you cannot know about it until it's almost too late, so please please please get the vaccine, if you can, and encourage every woman you know to get the vaccine! If you want more info on HPV, feel free to e-mail me with questions!

Don't get freaked out just yet. Your Doc will probably want to more test like a Colposcopy (where they look for precancerous lesions & do biopsy). Just because you have irregular cells doesn't mean you have cancer or even HPV. Talk to you Doc and schedule a follow up. Best wishes
