Really?!?! I had a root canal done in the beginning of my 2nd trimester with no problems. I'm sure if you keep calling around you will find a dentist that will be able to help you. They will know what meds to use that will not affect the baby. Good luck!!

Thats terrible! Call your OB, maybe they can suggest a dentist. I hope you feel better.

Call your OB/midwife let them know whats going on including all the dentist that said no. Ask if it ok to have the work done, with just local anesthetic and not general. If they say yes (they will I had a tooth pulled during pregnancy), then ask if they know any good dentist. If they don't, keep calling and let them know your OB said it was fine with only local anesthetic.

Keep calling. I've worked in the dental field for 16 years, and never have we ever turned down a pregnant woman with a toothache, especially after we've talked to her doctor. Call your OB/GYNE and ask him for a referral to a dentist. It must be that you have not been to a dentist in awhile, or you'd have your own dentist, who would've have seen you immediately... don't give up... worst case scenario, go to the ER...

That is absurd!! I was also having horrible toothpain with my first...like you said...in the verge of tears!! It was hard for me to find a dentist because I was on public assistance...and not many dentist take that. I was about 7 months pregnant and ended up having a root canal done with no problems!! The only thing is..that they did ask for a note from my OB stating that it was ok for me to have local anesthetic and they took extra precautions when taking dental x-rays (only taking the absolute necessary and double vesting me) So call around! or call your OB and ask if they can refer a dentist!
