How do I know if I'm having a miscarriage?

I have been pregnant before twice and I thought I was pregnant again cause my period hadn't come yet. But I woke I had been having sharp pains in my vagina and then yesterday I woke up bleeding. I am having real sharp pains and back pains also bleeding through all my clothes. Also feeling very tired. The cramps are very painfull. Maybe it's just a bad period. Could someone give me advice.

my mom has had a couple miscarriages and this sound about like what happened to her so please i am begging you to go see the doctor as soon a possible, and i am so sorry if it is and i feel really bad for you,( and i am not try to sound cheesy to get more points or anything)

When I had my miscarriage I had terrible cramping pains, heavy bleeding, passing clots of blood and needed to wear pads and change very often. I went to the doctor and he confirmed the miscarriage and did a D&C. If this period is not normal for you then you need to go to the doctor.
