pill,(microgynon 30) without ever having the 7 day break? for example taking the 28 tablets of one pack and instead of taking the 7 day break for which you are then meant to have your period, automatically starting the next pack and so on.I know people say you can do it if you are planning on a holiday for when your period falls but is it ok to do it continuosly

No, really not a good idea. You will end up totally screwing your body up and your hormones will be all over the place

I was told by my doctor it is safe. Maybe check with yours. I have skipped heaps of times and had no problems.

My daughter takes it for 6 months and then has a break and then takes it for another 6 months. This was recommended by our GP as she is Autistic and doesn't cope with having periods. When her period starts its extremely heavy but easier to cope with just one a year then every month. I would speak to your GP before you do anything. It will really mess up your hormones.

To be honest...Not enough is known about birth control to know exactly what it does to the body. Some people argue that it's fine to take BC continuously and some people think it isn't. No one knows for sure. The studies that have been done are non conclusive. So, that's where personal choice comes in. If you do it, you may have to deal with consequences of it. I continuously take BC because my periods are so heavy and the PMS is severe. I just skip them. People make argue that it's not healthy for your reproductive system but if worse comes to worse, I'll adopt! I don't think that one month of taking them continuously will hurt anything...So enjoy your holiday!

i was always told that you could run 3 packs together without any major problems. I've done that loads of times and been absolutely fine!

no way. my friend did that and she put on soooo much weight you wouldnt believe it! i dont think it would do too much harm to do it once or twice but it really will make you pile on the weight.

I was referred to a gynaecologist as they suspect that I may have endometriosis. The gynae told me that you could safely run packs on, but that it was inadvisable to do it for more than six months at a time. The period you have when taking the combined pill is not a true period- it's a withdrawal bleed, and is designed to help women feel 'like women'. Personally, having an incredibly painful and possibly damaging period does not make me feel all feminine! If you have problems like endometriosis, every period you have can cause more scaring of the uterine wall, making your chances of conceiving harder. So it depends on why you are wanting to run the packets on. Sometimes it can be in your best interest to.
