Is it possible to get hernia after rectal cancer

surgery? because my dad just had his rectal cancer surgery and it seems that he now has hernia. But the doctor said that we have to wait. But what I want to know is is it possible after surgery to have hernia in the lower abdomen where his pelvis is?

yea it is possible.
Although the present study have not shown the definite correlation between hernia and rectal cancer surgery as there are few cases.But Male sex and old age are the most risk factor for it.
