along than the docs. say I am - could I be having twins? I am pregnant with my 2nd child. With the 1st I could tell that I was pregnant until I was 5 months. I had found out @ 3 months but - didn't start showing until 5 months. Because of the size of my stomach I wonder if I could be having twins. The doc 2 checkups before my last measured my stomach and said the measurements were where they were supposed to be in the month that I was (3 months). I could be having a big baby - that's the other alternative I'm thinking about. Any opinions?I'm sort of "wondering" but more so other people. My family as well as my boyfriends family are big boned people. (Hawaiian) Anyway, my son was big to begin with too when given birth to him he was a whopping 9.1lbs. so I don't have any doubt that this baby will be as big as his/her brother. LOL. I do have an ultra sched. in a week from now so until then, really I won't know. Just something I thought about. Twins does run in the family though.

I am thinking either big baby (this is my first pregnancy and I looked like I was at 5 months when I was only 3, but my kid is also like a pound above the average...) OR because this is your second pregnancy, it is not uncommon to show 1) faster and 2) larger, simply because your stomach muscles are just not as tight as they were before your first pregnancy. If you are measuring where you should be, and the measurements they took during your ultrasound say that you are at (i think you said 5 mos now?) where the doctor thought they should be, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I cant really tell you if you are having twins or not but your situation sounds a similar to my sisters. She just found out she is pregnant and she is already showing. She is only 2 to 3 months. She has noticed a lot sooner with this one(also her second) and she says it is almost like her body just went back into familiar baby mode. Her first child is just over a year old. Maybe that is why you feel like you look farther along or maybe it is just that this baby is a little bigger than your last. Another thing to remember is every pregnancy is different. Good Luck with your new pregnancy!

With my daughter, i didn't show until alomst 7 months along. With my son however, I was noticable at 3 months. I was about 2-3 weeks bigger than I "should have been" my entire pregnancy, and until I had my ultra sound I thought I was having twins. I had a c-section two weeks before my due date, and my son was 9lbs 1 oz. So, the moral of this story is, you will just have to wait until you have an ultra sound :) My best friend just had twins and she found out at about 5 months along....good luck (i hope it is twins, twice the blessing!)

First, the muscles of the abdomen were stretched from the first pregnancy, so they are more relaxed now, so you will look more pregnant than at the same time as first pregnancy.Second, you could be having twins, especially if you had no ultrasound done yet. If you had an ultrasound that showed no twins, then you are having one precious baby, great!!!!Third, you could be having a big baby, or a large amount of fluid in the uterus, fibroids (benign tumors). Talk to your doctor's nurse about your concerns. She can relay it to your doctor who can order the appropriate tests. Most women have at least one ultrasound in pregnancy, at around 16-18 weeks. That ultrasound should ease your mind a lot.Best of luck and happiness with the rest of your pregnancy.Sounds like you will do well.

With my first baby, at the end of my pregnancy people thought I was only a few months pregnant. With my daughter I was huge... people asked me for months when I was going to have the baby. She ended up being smaller than my son. So when I was expecting again I thought I'd be huge because everything had stretched but I was nowhere near as big as I had been with my daughter. Both my sons were the same birth weight too.If you're sure of your dates then why not get your doctor to check if you're having twins.
