I am 22, athletic. I don't smoke, I don't drink coffee and I am fairly active. I have chest pain usually in the center or left side ..but today I felt the pain near my right nipple :). Sometimes the pain goes through my arms (usually left)..I also have kinda like a stiff neck, upper back pain..and rarely pain in my legs (like growth pains). I spend a lot of time at my desk (around 10-12 hours /day). I should mention I had 2 ekgs( seem normal) blood tests (cholesterol and all else is normal)..Could it be angina? Although I don't quite fit the profile and up until now the pains don't relate to physical activities??

I know exactly what you are talking about. You might have rib stress fractures, intercoastal muscle inflammation or spasms or even a broken sternum. Have you had X-rays?It does not sound like you have risk factors for angina.

1st: Angina relates to ANY pain in the chest. It is not specific to the heart. The differential diagnosis of angina depends on age, sex, activity level, smoking history, BMI and cholesterol level. From your description and given history I would place any heart condition extremely low on the list because of the negative EKGs and well as the lack of correlation to exertion. If you have adequate insurance then you can insist on an ECHOCARDIOGRAM which should put you mind at rest as to having had a heart attack with muscle damage, any problems with your valves or large vessels. Your doctor will balk at this because it is SOooooooooooooooooo unlikely...unless...you have a very significant family history of death at an extremely young age.Good Luck!
