and I'm freaking out!!? I went to my doctor a couple of days ago to get a check up and my blood came out good except for having above average cholesterol. The EKG showed that my heart beats two times in a row about every six beats. I will be going to a heart doctor soon but I want to know what can cause this and what problems can it lead to. I'm extremely scared! =/I'm 21, I have one kidney because I lost the other one to cancer when I was about 5. Also, I have been very lonely, depressed, and stressed out over the last couple years. Now that this is happening I'm freaking out about how it is going to affect me. I have been going to the gym over the last couple of months. I don't have any problems while or after I workout. My chest is burning and feels tight right now but it might be because I’m freaking out right now. I do not drink or do drugs. When I'm not thinking about the result of the EKG my heart does not bother me.

It is highly likely in a healthy 21-year-old that what you are describing are Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC's) or Premature Atrial Contractions (PAC's). These are both very common, benign conditions. Your doctor is doing the right thing by being cautious and sending you to a cardiologist. You will very likely be told your heart is fine, so you should try to put this on the back burner until your cardiologist appointment. It's really not worth getting upset unless or until you have a reason to be, right?

Sudden arythmia should be checked for. Experiencing dizzy spells is usually one of the symptoms of this condition.Just take it easy and make sure you remember to breath when you feel panic coming on.

pvc's sounds like, i know someone young like yourself that has those and was put on a medication to help. pvc's are no big deal to them, not causing them any damage to their heart. maybe anxiety pills would help you for the short term. stay away from caffeine and other things that make your heart race, except exercise! I am sure you have plenty of positive things in your life you can focus on, and I would focus on those more. Save the worries for when there really is a time to worry!

Join the crowd. I am told that every Medical student has an average of 5 fatal diseases during Med School. The mind can play tricks on everyone.
