My son is 4 years old and periodically has nose bleeds I have taken him to a doctor and he said nothing to be concerned about I used to as a little girl had nose bleeds and had to get my nose caterized* burnt* I am wondering if I should be doing the same thing or maybe some solutions to prevent this from happeing as often as it is ... I heard from experience putting vaselin in the nostrils to prevent drying out but I do know he picks it and maybe thats why too anyways any advice would be great Thank you and God bless

Give your son foods rich in Vitamin K (responsible for clotting factor). Spinach, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Tomatoes, Peas, Carrots, Potatoes and Lean Meats.

It is something to be concerned about, the doctor probably just doesn't want you over-thinking the situation but at the same time, that's your son and you want whats best for him. Sometimes just one doctor doesn't tell you what you NEED to hear. My sister had back problems, and it took her 5 appointments, all with different doctors, to realize she had something wrong with her spine. My suggestions, see a doctor that can really look into the situation if you think there's something more to it. Or if you think the burning method might help, give it a shot, but if it's still occurring don't go by what one doctor says. Personally, I wouldn't do the vaseline thing but if you're hearing it from people with experiences, then 2nd guess that thought. Best of Luck to you, I hope I helped :-)

It depends on the frequency and intensity of your son's nose bleeds. Your nose was cauterised because the cause of your nose bleeds was a blood vessel's opening too close to the inner lining of the nose. If your doctor says there's nothing to be worried about, then trust him. Most kids have nose bleeds every now and then. Cauterisation is effective when the nose bleeds occur regularly (once a fortnight) and include large clots of blood and cannot be stopped for an hour or so.
