...from anorexia? I have been sick for a long time, since i was fourteen, just after i started my period. I am eighteen and mostly recovered now, but for the first time in my ENTIRE life i am getting a for real period that isn't just spotting. For two years i didn't bleed. And now i am totally freaking out, not just about what a period implies, but also because this just makes me feel so horrible and gross and out of control and i totally can't handle this happening every twenty-eight days or what ever. It is scaring the piss out of me. I can't stand it. I feel so large and womanly. ugh.

You are far from recovered, my dear. Get in touch with your doctor pronto.edit: To those suggesting the pill: It is well known that a side effect of birthcontrol pills is weight gain. Tying ones tubes does not stop your period, it only stops ovulation.

This is the price of being a woman. You might want to ask about getting on a birth control pill where you only get 4 periods a year.

Dont take this wrong and get your back up. But you seem like a very selfish person. Don't you realize that every women on the face of the earth goes through this??And that its natural, you really haven't matured at all have you? This is something I would expect a 10-13 year old to be asking only without the feeling so large and womanly. Your 18, scared??? Like come on. Get over yourself, join the rest of us and dont be such a baby!

Ah, I wasn't anorexic, but I lost my appetite [from gerd] and my period for alomst a year. It is a HORRIBLE feeling that I know, and all you can do really is to bare with it, soon you will get used to it again, but it takes some time.Try to think of it like this you are healthy again, that is why you are having your period again. That is what my mom [who is a nurse] had to tell me.

Congratulations! That's a great sign that you're body is healthy! I hate getting my period too. I feel so icky and gross the whole week. If you really don't think you can stand it, there is a birth control pill called Seasonale that you can take. If you take it, you will only get your period 4 times a year instead of every month! It's really awesome to hear that you are recovering. Keep it up and remember that you are beautiful whether or not you're having your period!

umm... ok.every women has to deal with this.get over it.if you really dont ever want it then get tied.if not then once you are FULLY better go on birth control. that way you have it every other month.in the mean time take midol.you just have to deal with it so get over it. i have no clue why you are scared?? i can understand like 12yr olds. but you know the facts of life by now. and is it a bad thing to feel large and womanly?? you cant feel too much larger and womanly than normal.

It's okay. Every woman has to go through it. Don't let that get to you. You have bigger issues to focus on. Just get better and your comfort level with your period will increase with time.

What does a period imply? Is it because it means you're a woman and women get breasts and hips...curves, in other words. This is normal and healthy. You say you're "mostly recovered", but maybe you still have a few issues to work on. I'm sure you have a counselor and/or a support group so you should talk about how you're feeling. Yeah, bleeding every month isn't fun, but all women deal with it, without too much trouble. You'll get used to it. Don't think about the rest of your life, just take it one period at a time!
