The term "heart failure" , refers to the condition known as Congestive Heart Failure(CHF). One of the jobs of the heart is to move blood and fluid throughout the body.When the heart starts to "fail" , it no longer pumps adequately enough to move the fluid in the body. Therefore the fluid will start to back up in the lungs causing the "congestion". Those who suffer from CHF, are basically drowning in their own fluid. The fluid can also settle in the patients legs causing swelling. If left untreated it is definitely fatal.
