their bowel habits in public? I mean younger people don't walk around discussing when they had their last bowel movement with strangers. Why do the elderly do this? And is there a certain age when this is socially acceptable

I don't know but my grandma (rest her soul) used to call me and talk about how constipated she was. Sigh.

There comes a time in life when bowel movements are the most exciting part of one's day. Bless me, I hope that never happens to me. I hope I always have something more interesting to talk about.

I have to tell you--after 30 years working in nursing homes and caring for the elderly, I had one lady tell me after I made the mistake of trying to tell her she could not do something:"I am 80yrs old --I have lived on this planet long enough to say and do what I please"You know--she had a point lol
i suppose if u are old and lonely then the only way to get someone to talk to you is to say something interesting. that is probably the most interesting thing that has happened to them for a long time.

ROFL my second good laugh of the day.Well it's not really the best conversation to have in public but give them a break. If the best times of your life had past you wouldn't want to be hounded about something as small as that. That's not to have you have to be on the receiving end of this conversation though!
