...really sinning by being one? i mean, are you sinning when you drink a lot, if you're an alcoholic? because you can't control it, god made you that way. he also provided the right ingredients to make alcohol.

If that's the case, then Jesus was a sinner. In Matthew 11:19 Jesus was called a drunkard for drinking wine in the homes of local crooks and thieves.

It is your choice whether or not to succumb to alcoholism. Temptaion is a factor but the strength of your Will is what tips the balance.

If alcoholism is a disease then it's one that we give ourselves through the choices we make. Yes, it is a sin to be a drunkard. You choose whether you pick up the bottle or not. You choose whether you allow Christ to heal & restore you or not.

It may be classed a disease, but you can be cured. You do not HAVE to get drunk.Just like you do not HAVE to eat to much.Peace be with you!

If homosexuality is definitely found to be genetic, are you sinning by being a homosexual ? If gambling is a disease are you sinning by gambling. One could go on and on looking for sins and non-sins.

Alcohol consumption is not a sin. Even being a little drunk (i.e. weddings) is not a sin. But if you drink and do evil things, put your life in danger, put someone else at risk, and drink so much that you destroy your body, it is a sin.Alcoholism is classified as a disease by the world, that doesn't mean one is not responsible for their alcoholism. We all have our own cross...

Do you realy think it's a disease? I mean really, can you think of any other disease that, causes you to go out and buy a case of beer. Disease or choice?

Its not a disease, its an addiction that you could help.Cancer, that's a disease. Or diabetes, sarcoidosis, lupus, tuberculosis, malaria, bubonic plague, rabies, anthrax, leprosy, to name only a handful. Unable to control yourself is not on that list.

Alcoholism breaks a commandment - Thou shall not have any other god. An alcoholic is more worried about their own desires, thus treating themself like a god. The same goes with any other kinds of addictions.

There are different types of alcoholics. Yes, there is a neurological "disease" in which some alcoholics cannot stop the urge to drink. There are social drinkers who get tipsy frequently when out with friends, and there are binge drinkers who get hammered but then "quit" for a few weeks until the next time. The latter two are the easiest to overcome since it about breaking habits, but the first takes years (usually) to fully treat.About sinning, that is a good question, but I think that all instances of getting drunk is a sin by definition if you believe what the Bible tells you. Some murderers cannot control the urge to kill, but they are still sinning even though that is the way God made them. However, most will come to a point (if they hadn't from the beginning) where they will make a conscious choice to try to make their lives better. I believe that if someone accepts Christ and is making a real effort to live a Christ-like life, then God will save them even though they may still screw up once and while. Just my 2 cents, take it or leave it.Btw, God also made the ingredients to make crack and meth, but it doesn't make it right to do.

Croc,The tendancy to be an alcoholic is carried in the genes. It is NOT a disease even though it acts similar to one. One must partake of the alcohol for a period of time to become one and can get themselves off of it by seeking treatment thus it is a sin. Have a nice weekend.Thanks,Eds.
