Do facemasks really work to treat acne? If so does anyone have homemade "recipes" for them?

it depends on the acne, but i get some acne on my nose and it helps for me. you can get face masks cheap at target. sorry i don't have any recipes. but toothpaste and those face pads work really well for me. the toothpaste you add with water or without and just leave it on. then wash it off after about 15 minutes to a half an hour.

I don't have any homeade recipes for them, but I am an esthetician, and I can give you some good suggestions. Everything depends on your skintype. You may actually be overdrying your skin with other acne products and that can trigger more acne to pop up. If you skin typically feels dry or tight after washing than I would recommend to exfoliate every 2 to 3 days with an exfoliant that contains synthetic microbeads, which is important, because while natural ingrediants are important in the rest of the product, the beads should be synthetic so they are smooth and round. Natural exfoliants as in the "apricot stuff" actually scratch and damage your skin. You must exfoliate before you mask or it won't do any good. Only mask once a week, or spot treat only the affected area if needed more. Choose a mask with some zinc and/or sulfur in it. While the zinc will help to pull out impurities, the sulfur is naturally healing for the skin. Origins makes some good products that I would recommend- the "Out Of Trouble" mask and "Swept Away" exfoliant. They're about $18 each, really not bad. Please look into choosing a whole line of skin care that is right for your skin type, it will help everything. Ask someone at a cosmetics counter, my favorites are Origins and Clarins, for help. DON'T be afraid of moisturizer! Use it EVERYDAY, even though you have acne!
