First, I am not a doctor and your friend should be under medical care or call 911 immediately.I do know that pacemakers can help the heart continue a regular rhythm and pacemakers with difibulators can keep the rhythm and "shock" the heart if it stops. Other operations may also aid the heart in performing at a normal pace but all should be reviewed and studied by a heart doctor in a hospital. the best thing you can do is get your friend medical attention asap.

it depends on the type of heart disease (failure) your bf have. it is best that he sees a cardiologist.

No, it cannot be cured, but it can be managed with medicine. The only cure is, a new heart. My Dad died from congestive heart failure 25 years ago. That was before heart transplants. That's a big risk also but at least people have a much better survival rate than they use to..If you want to help him live longer, make sure he doesn't drink alcohol, if he smokes, make him quit. Go to his doctor's appointment with him, and ask the doctor what else you can do to help him. That's your best bet. He has been seeing a doctor regularly hasn't he?There are many websites online which will answer all your questions, below I've listed a few.Just search the Internet, that's what I did, put in heart failure and came up with hundreds of sites.Once you have all the information on the subject you can help him, don't worry he will be OK if he sees a doctor regularly, he might even outlive you!Good luck to both of you
