Hello, I have a betta fish for quite a long time. A friend of mine has a red eyed slider turtle. I don't know much about turtles. I was wondering if they can both live in the same tank. It's a 5 gallon (20 liter) tank. The turtle is 8 moths old. It's only a few inches long.

no the RES will eat the betta. Also RES dont belong in 5 gallons, my largest was a 10 year old female that was about 18 inches long. She lived in a 72 gallon that was a round tank with about 20 inches of water.

The turtle will get way too big, and turtles need dry land too, but bettas obviously don't. Fulfilling both needs of the animals in the same cage would be cramped.

You mean a red eared slider. I have had those before. They eat like PIGS haha. So no, I really dont suggest you put your betta in with the turtle, unless you want the turtle to eat it!RES get really big. When it is full grown you will need a MONSTROUS tank. My guess would be 100+ gallons. This was the problem I had when I had my wild caught RES. I kept it for about 3 years and then when I felt it needed a big open environment, I let it go back to the lake it came from. My grandfather says he sees him every now and then nibbling on the plants haha.
