...after an hour or 2 after feeding.? I know some spit up after feeding and during burping is normal. Right now my baby is 3 months and I feed her breast milk and supplement with soy formula. Sometimes she spits up right after eating, but most time, she spits up a lot (I always have to change my clothes and hers too) an hour or two after she's done eating. And its few times before she's done spitting up. Is this acid reflux or is it normal?

Is she otherwise content and happy? It's totally normal for babies to spit up, even what seems like a large amount. If she's wetting diapers and seems happy, she's probably fine. It might even be the formula, soy formula seems like an odd choice if you're nursing her. If, however, she cried and screams after a feeding, or you must keep her upright to avoid her losing her whole lunch, she might have reflux. DO NOT feed her rice cereal, that's an old wives tale. The best idea is to evaluate what you're feeding her if she's uncomfortable. If it's your milk, it could be something you're eating, like dairy, chocolate, something acidic. If it's the formula, consider dropping it entirely and exclusively nursing her. Just a few ideas!

Spitting up is just one symptom of reflux. Others include: back-arching, crying and fussiness during or after feeding or while burping, inadequate weight gain, and refusing food, to name a few. Not all babies with reflux present all symptoms. My son has 'silent reflux', which means that he usually swallows what comes up rather than spitting it out.If your little one has other symptoms aside from the spitting up, you could be looking at infant reflux. However, if she is happy and gaining weight well, she's likely a 'happy spitter'. If you are still not sure or want to learn more, there are some links that may be helpful to you below. Good luck!
