Was this a big problem back in the day? Leviticus 19:19"Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals."Was their a big problem with dogs and cats going at it? Or, was the Almighty referring to bestiality and left out "with" after the word "mate"? Oh the stories Balaam's talking donkey could tell!(Numbers 22:30 - The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day?"

Actually they were talking about breeds of animals, not different species. Why they didn't want their sheep corrupted by Babylonian sheep genes, I have no idea but god seems concerned with such things. Maybe it would corrupt the blood of the animal sacrifices.By the way, they didn't just leave out "with", bestiality is covered under other rules. I guess it was a problem with those shepherds keeping their flocks by night.

This is a little known story in a different religion. God created Lillith, Adam's first wife, she was also made from the dirt, as Adam was. She was thrown out of Eden for mating with the animals. Then God created Eve from Adam's rib, to make her closer to him.
