...where you can tone up w/out the weight loss? I have finally gained some weight where i dont feel "too skinny". I like where most of the weight went, but unfortunately my belly took a hit too. I want to work on that area, but i dont want to lose the extra weight. Can anyone recommend anything that would give me results but not cause me to lose all the weight??

You can tone up by weight lifting but I don't think you can loose fat from just one area. Exercises that are burn large amounts of energy slims one down, like running. While weight lifting builds muscle. I would like to loose the fat in the lower abdomen, but unfortunately that is where women carry fat, lower abdomen, thighs and butt. Men gain in upper abdomen chest and arms. Go figure.

Abs exercises won't cause you to lose weight, but they will tone your tummy. Unfortunately it's difficult to describe exercises without accompanying diagrams, so you'll have to either refer to a book or get someone to teach you. There are many abs routines other than the usual crunches, leg lifts and planks.Pilates is also good for strengthening your core (which includes your abs) and for toning your body overall without causing a loss in weight.

Weightloss is a combination of diet and exercise. If you increase your exercise and increase your caloric intake accordingly, you should maintain your weight.I'd recommend doing cardio fitness such as swimming, which works your whole body (including your core), as well as running, which tones your lower abs and legs. Crunches are good too, as well as working with a fitness ball. Pilates and yoga will also tone your midsection. My suggestion: try to do a cardio workout every other day (running, biking, swimming, etc), and at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise in the in-between days (think a vigorous walk, or a basketball game with friends). Try to weight train every other day (rotating your excercises... abs/back, then arms, then legs, etc), and do crunches, pushups (they work the abs a lot!), and other calisthenics (like planks) every morning or night. I would also monitor your weight to make sure you aren't eating too much/litte, but your best bet is your appetite!Good luck!
