My dermatologist told me that it takes a few months for your skin to cycle out the damaged skin from the acne scarring. You can quicken the process with exfoliating or microdermabrasion. Or just leave it be and let nature take its course.

The brown spots are pigmentation. Your skin will eventually get rid of them due to cell turnover but if they're really bothering you, you can try a few microdermabrasion sessions for faster results. If that's not an option, a dermatologist can suggest different creams or lotions to help speed up the lightening process.
