shoulder blade and spine? I've been sitting at a desk at school and work, and twice a week I ride my bike. But I have been getting a shooting pain behind my left shoulder blade close to my spine. I took some asprin, but I would much rather have a long term solution.

Most pain in the shoulders is caused by activity with the hands out in front of the body: using a computer and riding a bicycle, for example.A quick way to reduce this pain is to relax the overworked muscles by working the antagonistic muscles.Stand up straight, with your arms extended in front of you at shoulder height, as if you were going to dive into water. Then separate your arms by bringing them, at shoulder height, out to your sides. Return them to the starting position.Raise your arms ten inches or so from the first starting position, and repeat the arm separation and then returning to the starting position. Raise your arms another ten inches and repeat these steps one last time.

Quaker Oats for fast pain relief....It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from pain.

Even if you are in acute pain you need to maintain the natural curve in your spine as much as possible. If you sit, be sure to sit without slouching. Use a lumbar roll to help you sit properly. While in acute pain you should sit as little as possible and then only for brief periods. If you must sit, choose a firm chair and do not sit on a soft couch or chair because that will make it harder to keep a good posture. Try not to ride in a car or drive, however if you really must drive then make sure your seat is far enough back from the steering wheel so that your arms are fairly straight. Because if your arms are straight your upper body will be held back and this way you will not slouch. You must always use a lumbar roll when driving or riding in a car.If you are interested in other ways to treat your back pain, you can read abt them here : http://back-pain.best-health-remedy.com/
