i have been wanting to go off of the pill for some time now. whenever i mention it my husband freaks out and gets really angry with me. while i do want more children (we have one) a big reason is because i feel that i shouldn't have this much control over my body and i don't want to unknowingly abort a baby. i have done a lot of research on this. what are your thoughts and how do you tell your husband (i've mentioned it before and last time he elected to sleep on the couch). i know it's my choice but he is affected too.the pill works in 3 ways: 1. it suppresses ovulation (not always)2. it thickens mucus to make it harder for sperm to enter3. it thins the lining of the uterus so if an egg is fertilized it can't attach (hence abortion of a new person)

You can switch to a different form of contraception. Your husband could use a condom. You could use a diaphragm and foam. You could use 'film' and something else. You could try Depo-Provera. Check what other relatively reliable contraception is available. He doesn't have to sleep on the couch, if you're not sure he could always use a condom, which would be a whole lot better than not having sex at all.The only real thing you need to do is to ensure you use adequate protection which is usually two methods. The pill is considered about 99% effective, however, if you switch to a less reliable one, the failure possibility might be as high as 3%. So you need to use two of them, then the possibility of failure is the combination of both, so if you use two methods that each have about a 3% failure rate, the failure possibility for both is now 9 in 10,000 or 0.0009%, which translates to 99.999% effective. Using a diaphragm with contraceptive foam will do the job as well as the pill. Or check out other methods.

!st an egg doesn't = a person. It is not any different., then when it is not fertilized and it is passed out of the body. Or sperm the doesn't reach an egg. there is not life until it is penetrated by sperm. You sound very young or very naive, or both. You should look in2 getting the IUD, it is gud 4 5 to 10 years. depending on whether u chose copper of hormonal. U say that he is "affected too" then u should both decide when/if a baby should come. I think BC is better then bring a new life in2 an environment that isn't ready 4 another child.
