Foot Problem....?

Sometimes at the corner of my big toe, my skin becomes very hard. Every month or so, I use a razor blade to cut off the dead skin. Then I file it down and make it smooth, but the hard skin always comes back...why???

Some kind of calyst (sp?) maybe? The skin on your feet is generally hard because it is put through so much use (walking) and it's probably just because your big toe gets put through a lot of work? I don't know, I'm not a doctor. But I do fish a lot and the skin on my hands gets hard after a few days of fishing because of holding the rod. Calysts.
