Wow.... meta-freakin' mucil? So, if my LDL is 320, a good dose of metamucil is going to drop it 50%, right? I doubt it, too. Stop promoting using a substance that has NO data to substantiate its (very) use. To go from 320 to 310 -- using metamucil - will not change the rate or frequency with which I experience a cardiovascular event.Myalgias (muscle aches/weaknesses) are common with ALL anti-cholesterol medications. If your mother is sensitive to Lipitor, she most likely will be sensitive to other anti-cholesterol medications. Hopefully she isn't. You might recommend Zetia to your doctor. Zetia is not near as potent as Lipitor (or other brand-named statins), nor does it have any cardiovascular data to substantiate its use (i.e. clinical trials that showed by taking Zetia a person's risk of having a heart attack or stroke was lessened to a significant degree); however, it's better than nothing.Good luck.
