View Full Version : weight loss causing extra period?

I am 21 years old and have had a very regular period since I was about 14-15. It's usually every 28 days give or take.I got it on time on June 26 and it was very light, and only lasted 2 days. Then, 12 days later, I got it again on July 9.What could cause this?I have never been and cannot be pregnant. I'm not on any birth control or medications. The only thing that has changed is that I have lost weight recently (I'm 5'1 and went from about 95 lbs to 89 lbs).Please advise, I'm kind of worried about this.

Oh my gosh! If thats true I shouldn`t be going on a diet.Because I had my period in July 4 till now.2 weeks.&At the same time I was on a diet.

Weight loss usually goes with missing periods, you should contact your doctor.

Six pounds is not enough to cause a major change in your hormones. It probably isn't anything bad, just an irregular period. It happens to the most regular of women. However, is there any possibility you could be pregnant, in spite of your thinking you cannot be? If not, I'd wait till next month, then see what happens. You can always go to the doctor then. The only other thing I can think of is how tall are you? 89 pounds is pretty thin, and if you get too thin you may stop having periods altogether.

you weigh 89 pounds? OMG you are sick. you need to gain some weight. if your period is not normal that is a sign that you are not getting enough nutrition.

Well i think sometimes women just have irregular periods. Like that's what happened to my friend and she wasn't even trying to lose weight
