View Full Version : how can i get rid of stress? NOW!?

i am so stressed out for no appartent reason and i feel really bad cause i keep yelling at my little brother for stupid reasons (he is only 5). i just want to rip stuff up, slam my door and crawl up under my sheets. the only problem is i have chores to do and not very much time to do them

You need to drink warm milk before bed. For your brother, tell him you will love him no matter how mad you get. One way to find out what is making you stressed is to think back at what stresses you out the most, and to make a slow lifestyle change. Hope you are happier!

It sounds like you're stressed from everything building up and the fact that you're now pressed for time. Stay away from your little brother, pour a big glass of ice water or your favorite drink, turn up some good music, and start on your chores. If you need to scream into a pillow before all of this or go for a five minute jog outside, that might help, too. In the future, try not to let things get so out of hand that you're stressed at not having enough time.

Another controlled breathing method: Sit down and close your eyes if you can. Concentrate on breathing normally, not too fast, not too slow, not too deeply, not too shallowly, breathing through the nose, if possible. Focus your attention completely on the feeling the air makes as it enters and leaves your body, breathing in and out, in and out, in and out...............until you feel better. If you have a chosen word or phrase, repeat it to yourself over and over, during the controlled breathing exercises; if you don't, you can repeat the word "easy, easy, easy.........." 2. Others, with a vivid imagination, may find the following useful: As you are doing the breathing exercise, imagine in your mind's eye that you are in a hammock between coconut palms, on the beach of a tropical island, with a light sea breeze gently caressing your skin, and listening to the waves lapping the shore, as you watch the birds wheeling overhead, and like them, you are free to soar and swoop, playfully chasing one another, without a care in the world, with the feeling that you could go on like this forever, ................this can be good for stress relief: maybe you prefer the mountains, or doing cartwheels underwater, snorkelling or scuba diving, so it is a good idea to use the one that suits you most. The very act of mindfulness, while doing those chores, with the promise of a relaxing warm bath at the end may help.
