adrenaline binds to alpha adrenergic receptors (found in coronary arteries in the heart) to speed up the heart rate. Its been recently found that speeding up a failing heart can speed up the heart failure condition and make it worse.A type of drug that you might have heard of aims to block these receptors and keep adrenaline from causing an increase in heart rate. These drugs are called alpha blockers and reduce the heart rate.
